High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At Ngarala Public School, we are committed to the NSW Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Policy standards. We acknowledge that students may demonstrate high potential or gifted performance in the creative, intellectual, physical, and social–emotional domains. Our approach ensures talent development through an ongoing cycle of assessment, identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. We use objective, valid, and reliable measures to assess student potential, identify specific learning needs, and design differentiated learning programs that extend and challenge students beyond their current level. We collaborate with families, the school community, and the wider community to support the advanced learning needs of our students, ensuring equitable access to quality learning opportunities, resources, and support for all high potential and gifted students, including those with disability or diverse backgrounds.
